Copper Art of Peshawar is one of the most famous across the world. Peshawar enjoyed widespread reputation for its copper and Brass work. This work remained at its pinnacle in Peshawar The use of copper traces back to early Greeks period. It was the Greeks who introduce copper coins in the world. Like The Greeks, The Romans, The Sassanians, Ghaznavids, Mughals and the ottomans they all use copper in different forms, from swords and cannons to daily life utensils. Copper was introduced in subcontinent during Alexander the Great era (356-323 BC), and then it flourished in Mughal era (1526-1857) in form of copper coins and daily utensil, before the Mughals the Tughlaq and Khailgies also used copper coins.

The business of copper in Peshawar sprang from Bazar-Misgaran, Qissa Khawani Peshawar, which is still the largest and famous hub for copper art utensils. The Khyber Pass remained a busy road to subcontinent from Alexander to Afghans in the form of invaders, traders and merchants. They not only introduce but encouraged the used of copper in Peshawar.
